What to Expect During Your First Visit

Congratulations on scheduling your first appointment!  Plan to wear stretchy or loose, comfortable clothing, appropriate for us to examine any areas that are concerning to you. You are welcome to bring comfortable clothes to change into when you arrive. Keep reading for Driving Tips for each location followed by what to expect during a Discovery Session and what to expect during your first full Physical Therapy Treatment.

You will find us in the Palmetto Landing office complex at 232 Canal Blvd, Ste 2 Ponte Vedra Beach between Palm Valley Rd. and Roscoe Rd.

Palmetto Landing is a quiet office park in the heart of the Palm Valley/Ponte Vedra Beach area.  The complex is in a U shape and we are in the back building (232) in Suite 2. Come on in, meet our office manager Anna, and help yourself to water or hot beverages.

If you are being seen at our Southside location, we are located at 8761 Perimeter Park Blvd in Suite 105. From J Turner Butler Blvd, exit North on Southside boulevard and take an immediate left into Perimeter Park business complex. Turn in the second drive on the left where you will see the Atlantic building. Suite 105 will be in the back of the building on the ground floor near the stairwell.

Come on in and help yourself to water, hot beverages, or snacks and meet our friendly team!

If you’re visiting us for a free Discovery session, we’ll discuss what areas are troubling or painful to you and what that ailment prevents you from doing. We would like to know your goals and to answer any questions you have about physical therapy and how we can help you reach your goals. We’ll share with you what our plan would be for addressing your problem and helping you achieve mobility and function to do all the things you love.

If you’re visiting us for a full treatment appointment, your initial evaluation will include a review of your medical history and a discussion of your current complaints and concerns. Then we’ll get down to business and put our hands on you to test how well your joints are moving and begin identifying your trouble areas.

Our techniques may include:

  • Joint Mobilization/Manipulation

  • Muscle Energy Technicque (MET)

  • Myofascial Release (MFR)

  • Propioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation

  • Soft Tissue Mobilization (STM)

  • Strain-Counterstrain

  • Trigger Point Release

These techniques are all about the hands-on movement of your joints and soft tissue. Don’t worry! We’ll provide plenty of time for you to ask questions concerning your condition and our findings.

You may experience additional soreness after your initial visit.  This soreness is not uncommon and is a natural part of dealing with the root cause of your problem. Remember that in order to gain valuable information during your evaluation, you may have been asked to move in ways that you have been avoiding for weeks, months, or years!

If you ever experience excessive soreness or pain following a treatment, your therapist should be contacted immediately. By utilizing your consistent feedback, we can continue to adjust your treatments to maximize your progress.
